Fourteen recipients receive mobility in Mbingwa Village
Oct 19 2022
The 14 recipients of the Mobility Carts from Mbingwa Village were waiting in anticipation for members of the Board of Directors for the Malawi Project to arrive to bring their Mobility Carts. The members of the Board of Directors for the Malawi Project that arrived were Jim Messenger, Dan Brewer, and Dick Stephens. Along with the Malawi Project, Wilson Tembo and his team were also in Mbingwa Village from Action for Progress.
With anticipation for receiving the Mobility Carts growing, a crow led began to form to welcome the board members and witness their fellow village members receive mobility. The fourteen Mobility Carts recipients were crawling on the ground with smiles on their faces at the sight of the Mobility Cart and the thought of having mobility.
No more crawling in the mud during heavy rains, no more entering outside toilets on their hands and knees, and no more confinement to their village huts because no one is strong enough to lift and transport them from one place to another. Now the Mobility Cart recipients can become productive, move on their own, attend church services, visit the market, attend a soccer game, start a business, go outside with their children and grandchildren and so much more.
Several dignitaries who attended, including tribal authority and an official from the central government, gave speeches commemorating the special occasion. Then the moment came to present the recipients with their new Mobility Carts. The first name was called, and the recipient crawled out of the crowd and over to the first Mobility Cart in the line of 14. Eventually, there were 14 smiling people sitting atop the bright new Carts. Happiness, joy, and life seemed to engulf the courtyard as all of the recipients started riding their carts. Their excitement was visible, as if it was the best ever birthday present, or perhaps an unimaginable Christmas celebration. Their lives have been changed due to the Mobility Carts.
